Wear These Balenciaga Sneakers "Forever"

Fully Destroyed for $1,850.

Balenciaga distressed Sneaker

Balenciaga got everyone talking once again. The brand's new sneakers are an extreme interpretation of the “distressed look”. Think, a pair of Golden Goose sneakers, but they appear as though they had been in a landfill that was set on fire and then recovered to be sold to a luxury consumer. The brand announced that the intention of the campaign is to “suggest that Paris Sneakers are meant to be worn for a lifetime.” Balenciaga plans to sell 100 pairs of these limited-edition Paris Sneakers for $1,850 each. The regular version of the Paris Sneakers will retail for about $495, yet, they will only be slightly distressed.

While many netizens have accused Balenciaga of encouraging rich people to engage in poverty cosplay, the brand stands to have another outstanding hit on its hands in terms of driving sales. Balenciaga's creative director, Demna, has established himself as a provocateur. From Balenciaga's stiletto Croc to the Vetements DHL uniform, Demna has stirred the pot on luxury. “Demna … is completely turning the essence of luxury upside down. It annoys me, but it is genius”, GQ France head of editorial content Pierre A. M’Pelé.
